Where is Ascension Located?

Located at the corner of Gilpin Street and 6th Avenue, Ascension is truly a neighborhood church. The church is tucked into a residential area just two blocks south of Cheesman Park. The neighborhood is a mix of residences and commercial shops. Parking is available on the street or in our parking lot just across 6th Avenue at Williams Street. Handicapped parking is available in front of the church on Gilpin Street. Wheelchair access is through the north door, using the available lifts.

What Can You Expect at Our Sunday Services?

From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, Ascension offers one family-friendly service at 9 a.m., and children are warmly welcomed at all of our services.

When we are in regular schedule, we have two church services on Sunday mornings. Both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services follow the liturgy and order of service set out in the Book of Common Prayer and include Holy Communion.

The 8 a.m. service is quieter and does not have music. Our 10 a.m. features joyful music led by a full choir.

Especially at our 10 a.m. service, children, youth, and adults are invited to attend and given numerous opportunities to participate in all of our services. From mid-August through mid-June, the Nursery open from 8:45 - 11:15 a.m.

We enjoy a community coffee hour following the 10 a.m. service.

What Should I Wear?

Please dress comfortably. We are a diverse group of people, so you may see individuals wearing blue jeans sitting beside others wearing suits. We welcome you just as you are.

May I Receive the Eucharist (Holy Communion)?

All persons are welcome to receive communion at Ascension. We offer regular and gluten-free wafers. If you would like simply to receive a blessing, cross your arms over your chest, and the priest will offer one to you.
