Music is an integral part of Ascension’s liturgical and spiritual life, and the congregation enjoys and has come to expect diverse and high-quality musical expression. At both Sunday services we have formal music programs with a wide variety of opportunities to share our musical gifts in praise and thanksgiving. Throughout the week, we also make our instruments and space available to the wider community for musical rehearsals and recitals. With the completion of renovations and installation of a new Patrick J. Murphy & Associates organ in 2009, our church sanctuary has become a sought-after site for concerts, due to its superior acoustics, intimacy, and aesthetic ambience. Youth and adult ensembles making use of our facilities include the Colorado Youth Pipe Band and the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Sunday, February 26, 2017, 4:30 p.m.
Our next Choral Evensong will be Sunday, January 29, at 4:30 p.m. It will include music by Herbert Howells, Percy Whitlock, and Iain Quin.
Choral Evensong is the traditional Anglican sung service of Evening Prayer. The service includes canticles, readings, sung responses, psalmody, anthems, and hymns. At Ascension Evensong is led by Fr. Lucas and the Ascension Parish Choir. A reception in the parish hall follows the service. An offering will be taken up to benefit Ascension Friends of Music.
Choral Evensong take place at Ascension on the last Sunday of the month at 4:30 p.m., during the months of September through May, except for the month of December.
Our choir at Ascension is always seeking new members. No prior musical experience is necessary. The choir always aims to provide an inspiring worship experience. For more information, please contact music director Daniel Romero at email@example.com.
