Youth Ministry

Dear youth and families,

In The Church of the Ascension’s mission statement the section that states, “committed to sharing and growing in Christ’s love” is an aspect we take very seriously in our youth and children’s ministry here at Ascension. The Church of the Ascension is committed to sharing the love of Christ to our youth and children.

The church offers a dramatic Sunday school program focusing on Godly Play for student’s grade 1-3, My Episcopal Faith for grades 4 and 5, and a lectionary based program for student’s grades 6-12. It offers service outreach programs to the Metro Care Ring, a food pantry for the disenfranchised, on a monthly basis, as well as a summer mission trip. Summer 2008 we are traveling to South Dakota to serve on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in the Sioux nation.

In addition, the youth and children’s ministry provides opportunity to fellowship with other churches, training and leadership in worship as an Acolyte for grade 3 and above, and Chalice minister for those ages 16 and over, Bible study and fellowship opportunities.

Most importantly, the youth and children of the Church of the Ascension are look at as the most important aspect of our church. They are essential to the success and growth of our church. Each and every child and youth are nurtured and loved at The Church of the Ascension. Come and experience our “commitment to share and grow in Christ’s love,” as we continue to grow and provide excellence in programming for our treasured children and youth.

In Christ’s Love and Peace,
Cary Mathis
Youth and Children’s Ministries Coordinator
