A Prayer of Thanksgiving for a New Bishop
Holy Almighty God, from age to age you call forth and anoint shepherds to tend your flock. We celebrate your calling forth our new bishop, the Reverend Kimberly Lucas, to lead us forward in faith. As we joyfully welcome her as bishop, pour forth the gifts from your Holy Spirit to strengthen her for ministry. Through her faithful response to your call, may she come to know the vibrant faith, love, and support of the people of The Episcopal Church in Colorado. Amen.

Celebrate the Great 50 Days of Easter at Ascension
The Great 50 Days of Easter are sometimes referred to as the Great Feast because many Christians consider the 50 days of the Easter season as one long continuous celebration of Jesus's resurrection. The Paschal (Easter) candle is lit for the entire season. The altar hangings and clergy stoles are white, which represents joy and resurrection. We have special altar linens embroidered with the Lamb of God, which is another title for Jesus. Flowers return to the altar, and "alleluias" return to our hymns and prayers, while the Confession of Sin is on hiatus until after Pentecost. See what signs of Eastertide you notice!

Read the Gospel on Pentecost: Sunday, June 9
Pentecost is the final day of the Great 50 Days of Easter, when we celebrate the descending of the Holy Spirit on the apostles and other followers of Jesus. Suddenly, all of them were able to proclaim the good news in the languages of all whom they encountered. We will commemorate this miracle by reading the Gospel in different languages. If you speak another language and would like to participate please contact Weezie Blanchard at firstname.lastname@example.org.
