An invitation "to the observance of a holy Lent"
The season of Lent prepares us for Easter Day, the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord, the central event of the church year, and the theological core of the Christian faith. Throughout the season of Lent, we will explore ways for all ages to observe a holy Lent, in the words of the Book of Common Prayer, "by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word." Please join us as we observe a holy Lent.
Lenten Quiet Day on Saturday, March 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Church. Join Rector Weezie Blanchard for a morning of art, music, prayer, and silence as we contemplate the richness of the Lenten journey.
Lenten Learning & Simple Suppers for all ages on Wednesdays, March 13 and 20 and April 3 and 10 at 6 p.m. For adults, Rector Weezie Blanchard will lead a series on the essentials of "Being Christian: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, and Prayer," based on the book by the same name by former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams (order here at amazon.com). Coordinator of Children's Ministries Sue Richardson will lead children ages 4-12 in the discovery of Lent. Child care will be available in the Nursery.
Lenten Retreat at Cathedral Ridge, March 22-24, sponsored by The Episcopal Church in Colorado. The retreat will explore how "'circles of trust' help us reclaim a sense of integrity in our lives and foster wholeness in our relationships, our workplaces, and our work in the world," based on Parker Palmer's classic book "A Hidden Wholeness: the Journey toward an Undivided Life." For more information, go to firstname.lastname@example.org.
