John 17:11 And now I (Jesus), am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.
As we move from Easter through Pentecost into the Season after Pentecost sometimes referred to as Ordinary time there are lots of housekeeping and new items to consider.
Pentecost June 4: Remember to wear red to Church in celebration of the tongues of fire representing the Holy Spirit descent upon the Apostles and us. Pentecost is also considered the birthday of the Church so it is appropriate that this will be a Youth Sunday. Bring all your kids so that they can participate in the Service. They will be invited to the altar during the Eucharistic celebration so they can see what is going on up close and personal. It is also appropriate to celebrate by Making Ascension Blossom. A catered tea will follow the 10:00 service where the plans to re-do the landscaping on the 6th Avenue front. A freewill offering will be collected at this time to assist with the cost. If you cannot make it, a check made out to the Church noted "Make Ascension Blossom" would gladly be accepted.
Bible Study: It seems the men's and women's bible study groups have fallen on tough times and have faded away. If there is any interest in reviving these groups for at least the summer please contact me at the office or at 303-523-1601.
Adult Education: Starting the Sunday after Pentecost, I would like to gather a group after the early service in the Parish Hall to discuss some possible adult education to take place between services for the Summer Season. If you are interested please meet me there.
