Summertime Happenings at Ascension

Fr. Garry is on retreat this week in California, however he will be back us on Sunday, July 2. Please keep him in your prayers as he takes some time for spiritual renewal and rest.

A Prayer for Clergy and People

Almighty and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift: Send down upon our bishops, and other clergy, and upon the congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honor of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.

A Prayer for Travelers

O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey's end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lots of things happening this Summer!

This week I thought I would highlight some of the musical events (or at least events that involve music in one way or another) and happenings. In spite of the summer being a "quieter time" at church, we still have many things going on. I do hope that many of you will participate as you are available. Remember, all are always welcome.

Summer Choir, beginning July 2 at 9:00 a.m.
Starting on Sunday, July 3 will be our summer choir. During Sundays in the July simply show up at 9:00 to rehearse an easy anthem with the choir and then we will sing for the10:00 service. This is a great way to try out singing in the choir and everyone is most welcome.

The choir may also be doing some more difficult music this summer that will require some rehearsals. These plans are still being formulated, but stay tuned. Anyone interested will be most welcome to join us for rehearsals for some good music above and beyond what we usually do for summer choir.

Mass on the Grass, Sunday, July 9, 10:00
We will be having church in Little Cheesman Park on July 9 for the 10:00 service. Please join us for our annual "Mass on the Grass" and enjoy worshipping outside in the beauty of God's creation. For those of you who do not wish to join us in the park, the 8:00 service will still be in the church, as usual.

Festival Hymn Sing, Coming this Summer, Date TBA
Once again we will be holding our popular "Festival Hymn Sing" sometime this summer. For a donation of $50.00 prior to the event we can guarantee that your favorite hymn or religious song is included. All proceeds benefit Ascension Friends of Music. Last year's event was a great success. The selection of hymns and songs was very eclectic and this reflects the diversity of our parish and the many different Christian traditions that we all come from. More information in the weeks to come! Please join us for this fun event for the whole family.
