Please mark your calendars for Sunday, February 12th. Following the 10am mass, Church of the Ascension will hold our Annual Parish Meeting. The Parish Meeting is open to all, and all are encouraged to attend. At the Annual Meeting, the Vestry and I will present the annual operating budget to the parish. In addition, new members of the Ascension Vestry will be elected. It will be a time not only for information and questions, but a time for fellowship and community building as well.
As all are aware, Bright Star Early Learning Center, the pre-school tenants that we have housed for many years, will be departing in mid-July. This will inevitably bring with it many changes to our parish finances and the use of our building. It also brings with it great new opportunities for our parish to imagine how we continue to grow into the space we have been given, and to imagine what the future of continued ministry and mission looks like for the life of our parish community.
Please hold the Vestry, Wardens, parish staff, and myself in your ongoing prayers as we manage this time of transition, and as we look forward to what God is doing in the life of our community.
As always, I am available for conversation and questions. Simply reply to this e-mail, or contact the parish office at 303-388-5978
Yours faithfully in Christ,
Fr. Lucas Grubbs
Some Prayers for our Common Life at Ascension
11. For the Parish
Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven
and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. Strengthen
the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent.
Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring
us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP, Pg. 817)
12. For a Church Convention or Meeting
Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and
understanding, be present with those who take counsel
at Church of the Ascension for the renewal and mission of your Church.
Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide
us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to
pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen. (BCP, Pg. 818)
