The Year Ahead at Ascension

Happy Friday, and happy Pentecost to all!  This Sunday, we celebrate the great Feast of the Church, Trinity Sunday.  Dan Romero writes a thought provoking reflection on this supreme mystery of our faith below.  Be sure to read his beautiful meditation.   And even as we now move through the Pentecost season, we are reminded of another sacred mystery of God:  Time itself.  Time, as part of the created order, is a gift.  Is there ever enough time?  Do we make the most of our time?  Why do some days seems to drag on without end, while others are gone in the blink of an eye?  Our Lord Jesus Christ entered into time, taking on human flesh, and experiencing the hours, days, weeks, months, and years, just like us.  God is both beyond, and yet within time.  And today we pause to marvel at that gift.

As the summer months are upon us, things slow down a little bit at the parish.  The great feasts have been celebrated.  Many are looking forward to a little rest and relaxation as the days grow longer and the weather improves.  Use this time to your blessing, and for blessing God.  It is such a gift. This newsletter will become a little less regular over the summer.  Perhaps you won't see it weekly, but it will pop up in your inbox from time to time.  But for now, take a look at two items below.  One is a link to our activities, events, and worship services for an entire year out.  Make your plans, save the dates.  The parish events can be downloaded into your electronic calendar.  Put some on it right now.  There is also a beautiful image of the church year and the liturgical seasons.  Take a look at it, and offer thanks with me for the time that God has given us.  Time to praise God, time to draw nearer to God, time to follow in the footsteps of our beautiful Lord Jesus.

Peace be with you,

Lucas+
