Gregory S. Larsen was appointed Organist and Director of Music Ministries at the Church of the Ascension in February 2006.

Greg has an extensive background in the music of The Episcopal Church having served large parishes in the Twin Cities area prior to his relocation to Denver in 2002.  He served on both the Liturgical Commission and Youth Commission of the Diocese of Minnesota, and was elected to membership in the Anglican Association of Musicians.  He has also served as consultant in planning for the construction and/or restoration of several pipe organs and

assisted parishes in evaluating and reorganizing music ministry programs.

Greg holds a B.S. degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota, an M.A. in Arts Education from the University of Montana, and pursued an earlier graduate degree program in Arts Administration at Indiana University.  He has participated professionally with the Music Educator’s National Conference, Colorado Music Education Association, American Choral Directors Association, and the American Guild of Organists.  He has taught in public and private schools and is currently on the Music faculty at Graland Country Day School, Denver.  He has also taught at Hamline University and the University of Minnesota.  He is a presenter for the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C., specializing in the strong connections between music and architecture.

Greg and his wife, Laurie, have two adult sons and they enjoy travel and the opportunity to hike and to discover the wonders of Colorado.
