MUSIC AT ASCENSION
Music is an integral part of Ascension’s liturgical and spiritual life, and the congregation enjoys and has come to expect diverse and high-quality musical expression. At both Sunday services we have formal music programs with a wide variety of opportunities to share our musical gifts in praise and thanksgiving. Throughout the week, we also make our instruments and space available to the wider community for musical rehearsals and recitals. With the completion of renovations and installation of a new Patrick J. Murphy & Associates organ in 2009, our church sanctuary has become a sought-after site for concerts, due to its superior acoustics, intimacy, and aesthetic ambience. Youth and adult ensembles making use of our facilities include the Colorado Youth Pipe Band and the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Our choir at Ascension is always seeking new members. No prior musical experience is necessary. The choir always aims to provide an inspiring worship experience. For more information, please contact Interim Director of Music and Organist Tamara Schmiege.
Children’s Choir is for all children entering 1st through 6th grade. During choir rehearsals the children study hymns, sacred music, vocal technique, music theory, scripture, liturgy, the church calendar, and much more. Children rehearse on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of each month from 11:15-12:00 (Sept 9 through Dec 23, 2018). The Children’s Choir will sing in worship on three occasions, including Blessing of the Animals (Oct 7), All Saints’ Sunday (Nov. 4), and the Christmas Pageant (Dec 23). For more information, please contact Tamara Schmiege at email@example.com.
