PALM SUNDAY

Holy Week begins on this day, Palm Sunday, as we prepare more intentionally for the coming of Easter.  At our usual Sunday worship times of 8am and 10am we celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem with the distribution of palms and singing of hymns.  At the 10am service, we are joined by the Colorado Youth Pipe Band as we process around the neighborhood to the sounds of bagpipes as we wave palms in joy.

MAUNDY THURSDAY AND NIGHT WATCH

The Triduum, or Great Three Days begins with the Liturgy of Maundy Thursday, as we observe Jesus' greatest commandment, that we love one another.  The Liturgy of Maundy Thursday, with foot washing, and commemoration of the institution of the Eucharist, begins at 7pm.  Following the service, there is an all night Vigil in the Chapel of Repose in response to Jesus' question, "could you not watch with me for one hour?"  An off duty police office will stand watch over night for the security of those keeping vigil during the night hours.

GOOD FRIDAY LITURGY

Today marks the commemoration of Jesus' crucifixion and death.  The Good Friday liturgy is celebrated at Noon in the now stripped sanctuary at Church of the Ascension.  Perhaps the most somber and profound service of worship in the church year, this liturgy prepares us for the joy of Easter that is to come.  The Good Friday liturgy includes the veneration of the Cross and Communion from the reserved sacrament.

Family Worship Service

On most first Sundays of the month at the 10am service, we feature "Family Worship."  The service is led by youth and children from the parish with specially written prayers, a youth and childrens sermon, and music provided by our youngest members.  Youth and chilren are invited to the altar during Holy Communion to take part in the blessing of the bread and wine.  A special coffee hour follows!

Advent Lessons and Carols

For the Second Sunday in Advent, in lieu the usual Sunday morning Mass, we mark the season of Advent with a special offering of Advent Lessons and Carols. This is a service of special readings that tell the story of Advent and the coming of the birth of Christ at Christmas.  Carols, hymns, readings, and prayers make this service a very special time to welcome the season of Advent as we prepare of the birth of Jesus.  Coffee hour will follow in the parish hall.

All Saints Sunday

This Sunday we celebrate the great Feast of All Saints (transferred from November 1st).  At these services, we celebrate the witness and the lives of all the saints, known and unknown to us, from all ages and places.  We also commemorate those loved ones in our lives who have died and gone before.  There will be a sign up sheet for you to write the names of those in your lives who have died so that we may commemorate their lives at our Sunday morning masses at both 8am and 10am.
